May Overview

About a week into the month is as good a time as any to look ahead, right? This month, I’m feeling like there are a lot of bigger events on the calendar, and I’m not feeling very motivated to add in any goals or to-dos. There’s a lot of fun, memorable things this month, and I want to enjoy them. I also know that with school ending this month, I will have a lot less introvert recharge time in the next few months. I’m looking forward to having more time for summer fun, but using any extra time or margin for leisure feels good right now. So, I’m doing all the usual things needed to care for our family and myself (cooking, laundry, exercising, tidying etc.), but I’m not really adding in any extras.

Big Events:
*Legoland trip with Girl Scouts
*Friend Visit :)
*M’s Bday
*Mother’s Day
*Joel’s Bday
*My cousin’s wedding & rehearsal dinner
*Camping Trip--maybe this time no one will get sick? Our luck with this has admittedly not been great.
*Last day of school for A!

Intentions:
*To enjoy and be present for these fun and special moments.
*To find time to relax, not just when everything is done. Obsessively reading all the Emma M. Lion books is helping for sure!
*To spend more time outside and make small steps to organize outdoor toys for more independent access.
*To connect with friends and family I don't see often with a fun visit + wedding.
*To celebrate Joel and M this year!
Do you ever lack motoivation for monthly goals? What are your intentions for the month?

  1. I've heard such great things about the Emma M Lion books. I need to check them out! You do have a fun month of May! Our kids are still in school but we have some end-of-year things, like field day, Paul has his recital on 5/20, and it's our 9th anniversary on 5/19 so we have a date night scheduled for the 30th. Plus I have 2 work trips that are 3-night trips and I stay at different hotels for every one of those nights which is NOT common, and the first trip is a 2-city trip (Chicago and Philly) which is also not common. So my May travel is going to be more intense than usual, but then I get June off from travel! Well, besides possibly going to Chicago for our deposition...

  2. Hi Sam, a rehearsal and a wedding! How exciting! My May will be calm… after my birthday which already passed, we have Mother’s Day, then Memorial Day weekend- we are going camping. I will dedicate some time to myself this month: meditation, exercise, quality eating, reading and outside.

  4. Everyone is making me envious with the Emma M Lion books! Are you listening to them on audio? My library doesn't have them and neither does Barnes and Noble. I guess I can order them.
I like your intentions for the month. You have a lot of big, fun things- the best thing you can do it be present and make the most of them. Enjoy!

  5. I'm loving the Emma M Lion books, too! I listened to the first three and am taking a break before listening to more of them.

I like setting monthly goals but I definitely start feeling fatigued around August, so I usually take a break for a month or two until I feel the motivation to start them again.
