I’ve really enjoyed reading everybody’s monthly recaps, and I will write my own soon. I’m looking forward to completing my monthly reflection in the new cute keepsake book that came with my planner, but for the past week or so I’ve felt a little out of sorts. I’m not quite sure what’s at the root of this, but I think a lingering cold with low energy is not helping, nor is a toddler who has had several intense tantrums this week, nor is the sense that the world feels tumultuous. I’ve broken some of my good habits around phone usage, and have been scrolling news headlines again, so I’m going to reinstate my phone experiment rules of no browsing on safari or using the substack app. I’m going to keep exercising, reading, writing, going outside, playing with my kids, and seeing friends and trust that this mood will pass as all do.
In the meantime, I want to look ahead to big events this month. There is actually a lot to look forward to! I’ve been trying to focus on monthly planning this year, since I was about 50/50 with it last year. For me, it definitely helps me to feel like I’m living more intentionally and less reactively.
Big Events:
*Visiting Friends in LA! I decided to do a solo trip to visit one of my oldest friends and also see my long distance book club friends. Two of them recently had a baby, and I can’t wait to meet her.
*Superbowl. I will return to a Superbowl party at our house. Joel pitched this as a party that I just have to show up for--love it. Looking forward to all the snacks and Bad Bunny!!
*Valentine’s Day--this is low-key for us, but we’ll probably do heart shaped pancakes for breakfast and the kids will pass out valentines. I will probably write little love notes Joel and the girls.
*My sister-in-law and brother-in-law will visit. I need to plan some fun things for this weekend!
*Girl Scouts Overnight trip (+ cookie sales).
Goals/To Dos:
*Continue taking pictures for 1 second a day app.
*Buy tickets to Philly for Spring Break.
*Prepare activities and last minute details for overnight trip.
*Continue strength training 2-3x weekly.
*Participate in CBBC and FIG. The latter especially seems helpful right now!
What's on tap for you this month? Any other participants in book club and FIGs here?

I completely forgot about FIGS! Gah! I need to focus on that as need to focus on the good things in life right now to offset the heavy and sad stuff. I am also doing book club. I had a hard time engaging with the first set of chapters. I tend to struggle with classics, though.
ReplyDeleteYou have some fun things planned for February! And how wonderful to just show up for the party! We don’t have superbowl plans. It ends up being such a late night - I wish we were on PST for that one day!
Feb is a busy month for me as I have work trips to NYC and the DC/Baltimore area. Those are areas I both enjoy visiting.
